On the Apennine foothills, just ten minutes from the city of Parma, we find the
places chosen, for their beauty and charm, by the Hapsburg Duchess Marie Louise
as the site of her hunting residence. Marie Louise was said to be an excellent
huntress, but she was also known to appreciate the pleasures of the table. This
is undoubtedly one of the reasons why Gian Carlo Ceci, maestro of good traditional
local fare, made the former residence of the Duchess into a restaurant dedicated
to her: the Villa Maria Luigia. In the course of three generations, the Ceci family
has transformed the old inn it started out as into a comfortable restaurant which
has gradually changed with changing tastes and habits, so that today its cuisine
has found the perfect balance between tradition and innovation.
The original building, which still displays the splendour of former times, is
now an elegant and functional restaurant where hospitality is the key word and
the tables are enriched by a wealth of fine Emilian dishes passed down over time.
A place where the authentic pleasures of the table blend harmoniously with the
elegance and composure of business lunches, where the genuine love of the culinary
art still holds the first place, a place that makes its guests feel completely
at home.
The ideal backdrop for meetings and receptions, the restaurant offers numerous
rooms fitted out for this purpose, an open air terrace for summer lunches, a convenient
car park with a capacity to accommodate over eighty cars. A veritable paradise
in a luxuriant natural setting, easy to reach, only 8 Km from the A1 and A15 motorways.
The Villa Maria Luigia is all this and more, the embodiment of culture, nature
and fine cuisine at its very best.
